Inspired By | Mrs. Harris Goes To Paris
Hailed by Vanity Fair as “the summer vacation we need,” Mrs. Harris Goes To Paris tells a charming tale of a London house cleaner in the 1950s who becomes enamored by a couture Christian Dior gown that she discovers at a wealthy client’s home. Through hard work, determination and a bit of enchanting luck, Mrs. Harris manages to save enough money to make the journey to Paris and buy a dress for herself. In doing so, Harris changes the course of her life as well as of the famed fashion house.
In partnership with the House of Dior, Mrs. Harris Goes To Paris dazzles with couture costumes re-created for the film by famed costumer Jenny Beavan. The twenty looks that Beavan produced are based on the 1957 Dior Collection, as the fashion house hadn’t archived their earlier designs.
Below, a roundup of art inspired by the film includes several works that pay homage to the legendary Dior.
