Antique Masterpieces

Royal Bengal Tiger 1880 Book Illustration Print.

A collection of antique engravings in modern frames add a sense of history to designer and artist Nicki Clendening’s Harlem apartment. Photo by Patrick Cline for Lonny.

We’re delighted to introduce a collection of 1800’s prints that are at once antique and of the moment. Paired with contemporary art and furnishings, these antique masterpieces instantly add soul to a room and lend a sense of history.

We particularly love how the frame selection can dictate how each piece feels. Take, for example, the sepia-toned engravings below. When paired with a wood frame, they look like original works pulled off the wall of a great antique shop. But when paired with an ultra-thin black metal frame, they feel fit for a sleek New York City loft.

The same is true with matting. Framing a piece without matting reads as historically correct, while the addition of matting feels decidedly modern.

Check out the collection below along with our recommended framing and matting options..
